Disposable cameras were an invention of Fuji and Kodak in the mid 1980s. They have since become an easy way for people to take pictures of memorable events, vacations, or the like without having to shell out a great deal of money for non-disposable cameras. This is common among disposable cameras on the market. Disposable cameras are also called “single-use” or “one-time” cameras. Photo labs often have boxes of them under the counter, waiting to be recycled.
In order to remove the roll of film from the disposable camera the housing must either be broken or a part of the housing must be removed after the removal of the cardboard covering. This is kind of similar to disposable digital cameras. Currently, 70 percent of the total cameras purchased in the United States are recycled, making them the most recycled item today. Prices for a camera with the capability for 25 or 27 pictures range from $9 to $19.
Disposable digital cameras are falling to $20 or less in the retail market. Of course this is like a disposable underwater camera. These digital cameras are fully recyclable, and sell for about a $20 price tag.
