Motocross is an extreme racing sport that requires bikers who can meet the physical demand and handle the adrenaline and heart pounding effects. Motocross is one of the most popular forms of racing and is the most exciting for spectators. 

The Motocross Track

Motocross is vastly different from say Ducati and most other types of bike racing. Traditional racing consists of bikers, a series of different bends on a tarmac surface. Motocross consists of bike racers, hills, huge jumps, man-made obstacles and a series of bends.

Speaking Motocross

If you are new to motocross you will come across many funny sounding terms like Pilot Jet, Panic rev, Nac-nac, No hander, Oil Drain Bolt , No footed can-can , On the pipe, Pit riding, Off Camber , Pipe Hanger and many, many more. Following is a few terms you may hear:

  •  Yellow flag: As extreme as motocross sounds it does have referees and a yellow flag cautions racers that a hazard is on the course. 
  • Tweaked Bars: When a biker crashes and his handles become bent he is said to have tweaked bars.
  • Three Fingers: When measuring the tension of bike chain motocross bikers often use a technique called 3 fingers.
  • Sweeper: A light corner that requires no braking and can often be completed at full throttle.
  • Ski jump: This is an extra high jump and extra-long rank that bikers can ride at extreme high speeds and fly high into the air.
