2 Commonly Made Dieting Mistakes

Knowing the basics of weight loss is often the key to success. However, sometimes exercise and a healthy diet are not enough. A lot of people have found themselves in quite a predicament when regular physical activity and a weight friendly diet have proven unsuccessful. In this article I will discuss two commonly made dieting mistakes which hold us back from fitting into our favorite pair of jeans.

Unhealthy snacking is one of the most commonly made dieting mistakes. Many of us eat rather healthy meals; however, when it comes down to midday snacks we can be quite careless. There is a bag of pretzels hidden in our desk at work, there is a doughnut in the employee lounge and there is a bite from your child’s ice cream sundae. All of these little snacks add up to quite a large calorie punch. However, there is such a thing as healthy snacking. If you feel your stomach rumbling and its not quite time for dinner yet, there are numerous healthy alternatives. Try some peanuts, salt free baked crackers, fruit or veggies. Research has shown that people who eat several small meals throughout the day, along with healthy snacking, are much more likely to lose weight.

Another dieting mistake that a lot people make is skipping breakfast. People who want to lose weight often think about ways that they can cut out unnecessary calories. However, skipping breakfast should not be one of the options. When we skip breakfast we are more likely to snack throughout the day as well as eat a rather hardy lunch. A healthy breakfast can help sustain your hunger just like the appetite suppressing diet pills. So if you are interested in quick weight loss, be sure that you don’t fall victim to these two commonly made mistakes.

Vintage Autos: Enjoyable And Sometimes Lucrative Pasttime

Vintage cars are usually defined as a vehicle built between 1919, which may be identified as the end of World War I, and 1930. The end of the old period in Britain is strictly 1930, while American may prefer 1925 because it is the period identified by Classic Car Club of America.

cars built between the end of this period and the 1950s were not as numerous until the nationwide road system began in the 50’s and production was pumped back up in a more convenient form of transportation. Classic and Antique car designations apply to any vehicles built from the 1890’s to the 1970’s.

Vintage cars have become a car collector or restorers vehicle of choice for a hobby or investment. These classic cars were built well for their time, and their novelty keeps interest high in clubs that collect and restore them for the sense of pride or for resale. Many of these collectors restore them and go to shows, swaps or just hold onto them for appreciation.

You can find antique autos many places in different states of restoration. They could be in somebody’s garage, on the Internet or in car magazines. Be sure to choose a subject that is not heavily rusted and has as many original parts as possible, for the highest resale after restoration. You need to keep in mind that you will need plenty of space to disassemble the car and work on it in your spare time.

You may have to do a lot of searching for replacement parts, and you need to try to keep the classic car as close to original as possible. You need to choose paint colors and metal accessories that are as close to the period as possible.

Once you have restored the antique car, then you need to decide if you are going to sell it and try to determine its fair value. You will need to find a way to market the car, and try to collect as much information on the vehicle as you can. Any original manuals or brochures on the vehicle that might reveal some of its history makes it more attractive to car lovers.

Depending on the type of classic car, there are many car clubs across the country that specialize in certain models, and make an easy way to buy and sell the antique vehicles either already restored or in need of restoration. You may need to plan on a car trailer to haul your old car to shows and venues to save wear and tear on the vehicle.

Not all car buffs who get into old car restoration end up making a profit because repairs can cost more than expected and components can be hard to come by for certain models. It is best to be realistic when looking at getting into antique cars, and understand that you may not come out with anything other than a sense of accomplishment from your restoration project.

But if you look carefully and buy the right vehicle, you can certainly end up with a beautiful old car and end up with a nice profit when you are ready to sell, if you do your research. Here is a great list of Antique vehicle makers for you to get an idea of what was made.

Home Security Tips

Here’s a few tips for making your home more secure.

1) Lighting is your best and cheapest defence against burglaries. If a burglar can be seen it’s much more risky for them to target your house. Neighbours and passerbys could potentially see them and notify the police. Use an energy efficient compact fluorescent bulb in your front and rear porch light and leave them on all nite. You can automate this by connecting them to a timer or photocell.

2) Make sure your house is not hidden from view. At least make sure that your front door can be seen from the street. Clear away overgrown shrubbery from the front of your house. Don’t give potential burglars anything that they can use to conceal their activities.

3) Install motion sensors to light up the dark areas of your property. There’s nothing more startling to someone approaching your home to be suddenly bathed in light. Motion sensors are very cheap and can be installed easily in existing or new light outlets. They can be set to stay on for a set period of time when triggered by motion.

4) When you go on vacation, connect some lamps in your home to plugin timers. Some timers allow you to set multiple on/off events every 24 hours. Do this with 2 or 3 lamps to give the impression that someone is home in the evenings. This is especially important if someone is watching your house to determine if anybody is home. Ask your neighbour to pickup mail and newspapers every day. There’s nothing like a pile of newspapers on your front porch to tip off a burglar that you’re away.

5) Install dead bolt locks on all your doors. This is a fairly inexpensive way to secure your home. Deadbolts cannot be picked as easily as regular door locks. This is something the average homeowner can install with a minimum of tools.

Your best defence is to make sure that it appears that someone is always home, even when you’re not. For even more security consider installing a burglar alarm in your home.

Common Swimming Pool Maintenance Mistakes

Not checking your pool’s chemistry often enough.  Check the swimming pool chemistry twice per week in the summer and once per week in the winter. By doing this you can make minor adjustments to your water chemistry instead of big adjustments that create a wild up and down graph of activity.

Allowing pH to get above 8.0.   At 8.5 chlorine is only 10 percent active.  At 7.0 it is about 73 precent active.   By just maintaining pH around 7.5 the chlorine is 50 to 60 percent active. Keeping the pH in check will allow you to use to the full potential the chlorine that is already in the Pool.

Not keeping alkalinity between 80 to 140 PPM.  Low or high alkalinity can affect water balance and ultimately a sanitizer’s ability to perform.

Not checking TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) or calcium hardness on a regular basis. Check TDS every 6 months and calcium hardness every month.  These also affect water balance which is different from sanitation, although related.

Not cleaning the cells in salt water systems (chlorine generators).Corroded or calcified cells will produce little chlorine.

Backwashing sand or DE filters too often.  If you do this, the filter can never reach is cleaning potential.  If you backwash on a regular basis for no reason, you are wasting water.  Most filters require backwashing when the pressure gauge rises 8-10 PSI from clean.

Not cleaning the skimmer basket and or hair and lint pot in the pool pump often enough.  If these are full of debris you will get little flow resultingin poor circulation, potentially creating a big problem.

Adding chemicals to swimming pools , especially liquid chlorine, during the day.  Try to add chemicals in the evening after the sun has set.  You will get more out of them.

Not brushing the walls and tile down often enough.  If your circulation system is suspect, and many are, brushing down the walls will help eliminate algae problems.  Keeping your tile clean will save you money. Once the tile gets calcified it becomes like plaque and will take a specialist to get it off.

Make sure that you keep the space between the bottom of the cantilever on the deck and the top of the tile in check.  If this cracks, then put in some silicon.  You do not want water migrating from the inside of the pool out under the decking.

Not running pumps long enough.  For proper swimming pool maintenance you should run your pump about 1 hour for every 10 degrees of temperature.  This assumes you have a decent circulation system.  It is ALL about the FLOW! Circulation IS the key to a low maintenance swimming pool.

Not replacing broken or missing drains or suction sources. This is a real and dangerous hazard.  The same could be said for defective door and gate closers and fences in disrepair.

Clickbank Internet Marketing: A Tale of Three Websites

Back in December 2008 I launched three review websites.

> Maverick Money Makers Club
> Project Quick Cash
> PPC Bully

All three were review sites, and but not all three have shared the same fate.

My Clickbank Winner

My Maverick Money Makers review site is by far the most successful. It was a white-hot product on the way up, and as a $100/month membership site with great entrepreneur training materials also updated monthly, it shot to the top of Clickbank. It has a Clickbank gravity of almost 800, which is in rare company.

I also through a lot of linking efforts behind Maverick Money Makers from the very beginning, and it now has hundreds of links that help maintain its position  in the Google “Top 10″ for several of my major keywords. My visitor has increased steadily across three month,  from an average of 50/day in January, 100/day in February, and now 150/day in March. Nothing earthshaking, but very steady and reassuring for my efforts.

It is the poster child for what TO do, and has provided a lot of motivation, as well as cash.

My Two Poor Clickbank Losers

The Project Quick Cash and PPC Bully review sites seemed almost doomed before they started.

I did not realize when I began promoting it that Project Quick Cash was actually a re-release of a 2007 product, and as such on its last legs. It was not “new” anymore, and not being searched for … (so no organic traffic to speak of|and if no one is searching, you don’t exist|so there was no traffic to be had, really, through Google}.

PPC Bully

PPC Bully seemed like a winner, with its ability to “steal” your competitors PPC campaigns, and it is a very effective spy tool … but it offered limited training early on, and seemed a bit like a one trick pony.

Both of them had the unfortunate bad luck to be located on  a part of my server that went whacky just before I underwent some surgery, and so they sat there, with all my initial promotion and links getting ignored, because Google and other bots arrived to a blank page (when I thought they both were up and running.)

Two weeks later, back from surgery, I realized too late what had happened, but by then both had been give the thumbs-down by Google, and I don’t know if they can ever be revived.

It is unfortunate because both a great programs. PPC Bully has increasing competition in the PPC spy tool field, but just released a new piece of software that should add to its value.

Project Quick Cash

Project Quick Cash offered 5 great tactics, and also a wonderful little back-end tool that allowed you to grab traffic surges as it moves through the internet each day, and to cash in on it with (PPC|pay per click} and other techniques. I still use the tool daily, and it is too bad it was not offered as a separate program.

It made using PPC easy for the average person, and is still a useful approach.

I DO know I learned a few things.

1. Regular monitoring of websites is a “must do.”

2. Regular linking efforts, even of the unpaid kind, pay off.

3. Choice of Clickbank programs matters. While not pure science, products with rising gravity above 70, recurring membership, and a high sales price all make for a very attractive affiliate program.

Perhaps you can learn from my mistakes!

Determining Home Equity

In today’s economy you might wonder about how your assets have fared or gotten along in the turberlance. This will include your income, your investments, pension plan, IRAs and the largest investment for nearly all people, your family home or house.

What money acquired} in the bank in your savings or checking account should be just fine unless you have more than $250,000 in one bank and that bank happens to be among the banks that fail.

If you’re invested in the stock market this may not be a really good time for anyone unless, like they say, you are committed for the long term. Even the long term investors are getting a bit edgy presently.

The retirement account that are heavily invested in the stock market are taking a beating at the present time, but can recover the losses over a time period. What you can do with these accounts is mostly regulated by your age and how long it is until you are planning to retire.

Now to that biggest investment for nearly all folks. The house or family home. I’m certain your home or house is precisely comparable to mine, it has diminished in value during the last few months. So probably your home equity is not as much as before. You might ask how could this affect me? If you’re not planning to sell or not planning to seek a home equity line of credit you won’t be affected in the least. For those looking for home equity lines of credit will find that their home equity is lower and the loan interest rates are climbing.

How To Choose A Big Size or Mastectomy Bra

Introduction

Over the years as I matured my bra size increased, particularly after having babies. Before that I was a size 34 bust, but after giving birth I went up in size. After menopause my bust size increased again and I found my normal bra did not fit me anymore. One day I took the plunge and went into my local underwear store and had myself properly fitted and measured. To my amazement I discovered I was no where near the size I thought I was. The statistics from research carried out suggests that 70% of women are wearing the wrong bra size and many of these women have never actually been measured at all and so simply buy what they assume to be their size.

What most women do not realise is that a badly fitting bra can affect their health and well being. If for instance the bra is the wrong size it might cause severe back and shoulder pain with the constant resistance to the pressure on those areas of the body. As in the example above, bust size and shape will alter with variations of weight and hormonal change. This in turn will require a change in bra size. Because a woman’s shape may be in a constant state of flux, regular fittings about every 6 months are highly recommended. But if that does not happen then it is best to be fitted every time a new bra is purchased to ensure that you get the correct size.

To Find the Correct Bra Size

The best way to check that you are wearing the correct size bra is to go to a shop or store that offers a professional bra fitting service. A specially trained fitter will measure you to work out your correct size. The technique used is to take a tape measure and place it underneath the bust and around the rib cage so that it feels secure but not uncomfortable. If the number measured in inches is an even number you add four, if it is an odd number you add five to give you your bra band size.

Once the band size is established the next measurement to find is the cup size. This is done by placing the tape measure over the fullest part of the bust and around the back all at the same level. Again this should be firm but not too tight. Your cup size is the difference between the two measurements. For example if your bust size is the same as your bra band size you are an A cup, a 1 inch difference = B cup, 2 inches = C cup, 3 inches = D cup and so on. All measurements taken are really only used as a guide to bra size because bras size can vary greatly from manufacturers to manufacturers. Sometimes a very experienced trained professional can judge your bra size by eye and will not need to use a tape measure. Because women vary so greatly in shape and size it is not only the size of bra that is important, but also the type of support required and distribution of weight. A qualified fitter will be able to offer you advice on the correct type of bra to suit your needs.

Look in your local area to find a good shop or store where there is a good selection of big bras available.

Things to Notice about your bra:-

  • If you find that your bra rides up your back it may be because it has stretched. Try tightening the bra with the hook and eye fastener or buying a smaller band size (32 instead of 34).
  • If the opposite is the case and your bra is too tight try another band size up or even a bra that has a wider band fitting. You can get extra hooks to fit on the end of your current bra that will ease the tightness under the bust.
  • Bulging sides can be remedied by choosing a bra that offers more cup coverage or is one band size bigger.
  • If you find that your bust is bulging out of the cups then you will most likely need a larger cup or band size. (Unless of course that is the fashion statement you are aiming for!)
  • For women who have larger busts, a bra with wider shoulder straps or even padded ones will give relief from sore shoulders.
  • A sagging bust line can be overcome by choosing a bra that offers firmer support and avoiding stretchy fabrics.
  • An under-wired bra may give problems with soreness under the bust if not correctly fitted. In which some ladies prefer to wear a non-wired soft cup bra.
  • Straps that slip usually mean they are too long so they can be shortened to correct the problem. Otherwise choose a bra style with wider straps that will not slip down or buy a bra clasp to hold the straps together at the back

The Prevalence of Cancer

According to Cancer Research UK, breast cancer is the most frequent type of cancer in the UK and around 125 women a day are diagnosed with this particular form of cancer. Breast cancer rates have increased by 13% over the last ten years and one in nine women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. This may be due to the national screening programme, but early detection is vital for a good prognosis. Survival rates of 5 years or more after treatment is 80% and that means that there are a large number of women who require specialist bras especially after surgery.

As a result of the increased rates of breast cancer and manufacturers looking to specialise in new markets, the range of stylish Mastectomy bras and lingerie has grown considerably, so having had breast surgery does not mean that you can’t have stylish designer lingerie any longer.

Mastectomy Bra

Choosing lingerie after surgery where the breast or part of a breast has been removed can sometimes be quite a challenge and there will naturally be a period of adjustment. Part of the rehabilitation will be to acquire a prosthesis to use in conjunction with a mastectomy Bra towards recovering the normal silhouette.

The amount of surgery you have had will establish the type of product you require. The prosthesis should match the natural remaining breast or if two are required they need to restore the natural outline. When going for a fitting for a mastectomy bra it is important to have the right prosthesis with you.

There are a full range of Mastectomy bras available to choose from, so pamper yourself.

A Mastectomy bra is generally made from fabric that is designed to be more comfortable on sensitive and post-operative areas of skin, but this doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or elegance, and a wide range of beautiful post-surgery lingerie is available. These can be purchased as complete sets with matching bottoms. Apart from the different fabrics used, the main difference of a Mastectomy bra is that is has pockets to accommodate the prostheses and generally there will be a choice of a higher neckline and higher panels between cups. A Mastectomy bra will usually have adjustable straps for effective support. There is no need not to be stylish and feminine; bras with satin and lace trim also feature. Some Mastectomy bras also have a silver lining which aids healing.

Where there is a bilateral mastectomy the bra will need to accommodate the natural breast in one cup and the prosthesis in the other. Ensure that you find a boutique with a qualified fitter to help you find exactly the correct size and fit to suit your shape. No prosthesis will look right if your bra does not fit properly and ideally the two should be fitted together, if that is not possible then choose the bra first.

Points to be aware of when choosing the correct mastectomy bra for you are:-

  • The prosthesis must fill the bra cup properly so that it doesn’t pucker or be over stretched
  • The underarm section is the same on both sides
  • The breasts are evenly aligned.

Where only part of the breast tissue has been removed (lumpectomy) then there is only a need for a breast enhancer. There are a range of styles and shapes for partial reconstruction usually made from silicone.

Polypropylene beans mould into the shape of the bra to give a really natural look and the beans allow air to circulate making it cool and comfortable.

There is also a range of swimsuits and bikinis designed with unobtrusive modifications for the beach such as pockets for the prostheses, slightly higher necklines and closer underarm fitting with pre-formed cups to give natural contour to the figure. Again these come in every shape and size and don’t mean that you have to sacrifice new fashions, but they can be slightly harder to find.

Maternity Bras

When women become pregnant they outgrow their ordinary everyday bras very early on in pregnancy. The breasts become bigger and heavier in the first few weeks so a good support bra of the correct size is vital. As the pregnancy develops the breast size continues to change and fluctuate so regular measuring and fittings will help with comfort and health. Many midwives and retail outlets advise against purchasing an underwired bra during pregnancy and although there is no concrete evidence to show that underwires are harmful during this time, there does appear to be some potential risk. The reason for this advice is that the rigid wires found in underwired bras may interfere with the natural changes in the size and shape of the breast and restrict the increased blood flow to, and possibly hinder, the developing milk duct system.

Specialist lingerie retailers tend to stock all specialised bras such as post operative bra, nursing bra and maternity bra ranges. These boutiques will nearly always have professional measuring staff, which is an important part of the process of getting exactly the right fit.

To make sure you are wearing the best supporting bra a professional measuring and fitting service is a must during pregnancy. It is important that you are measured every 6 to 8 weeks so that your specially trained fitter can assess your changing shape and fit you accordingly. When you are looking for a maternity bra it is important that it offers you great support with wide straps and side panels. A wide under bust band and a deep centre at the front will also enhance this support. A bra that covers as much as possible of the breast will be more comfortable as the breasts become more sensitive during pregnancy.

A lot of pregnant women find that they feel very hot during pregnancy and a bra that is mainly cotton will help let the skin breathe. Look for a bra that has at least 4 rows of hooks and eyes so that your bra can grow through your pregnancy with you. Make sure that the bra fits without the breast spilling over the top and that the cups fit comfortably. As with your everyday bra make sure that the centre front is lying snugly on your breastbone, and if it’s within the first few weeks of pregnancy remember that your rib cage will expand so fit your bra on the tightest fastenings so that you have plenty of room for expansion later in your pregnancy. The opposite will apply for maternity bras purchased later in pregnancy of course, fit on the loosest hook and eye so that when your rib cage shrinks after birth, you can tighten your bra accordingly.

Conclusion

During the early stages of a woman’s life she will need appropriate bras to suit each stage. During the early teenage years a more modest non wired bra is the most appropriate.

Later in adolescence where appearance is a serious business, a more fashionable good fitting bra to create a feminine silhouette can be worn.

In pregnancy a comfortable good supportive bra which has expanding fastenings allows for changes during that period without restriction and damage. Following the birth, a good nursing bra to allow for easy access needs to still support the breast as it fluctuates hourly during the day.

If women undertake vigorous exercise then it is doubly important she wears a good sports bra to reduce bounce as that stretches the pectoral muscles. Once this has occurred there is no way it can be rectified.

As a woman ages the breasts mature and so will need a good supportive structure that helps prevent sagging and yet retains a good outline. After menopause many women loose the full breast shape of their earlier years and at that point it is more important to find an appropriate type of bra that will help them feel good about themselves.

Many women have been unfortunate enough to have had a full or partial mastectomy in which case correct prosthesis and mastectomy bras are an essential part of the recovery programme.

Many women spend a great deal of time and money on hairdo’s, makeup and face pampering, yet often they neglect one of their greatest assets. Maybe it’s time we women start to think differently about the way we look after our bosoms’ and make sure they are clothed in comfortable, supportive and good looking items.

Capstar to kill fleas on dogs and cats

There is a new product on the market to take care of fleas. Although it is not a cure-all, it certainly does have its place. Advantage and Frontline for cats both are excellent products, but they cannot be used for tiny puppies, for instance. Contrary to both Advantage and Frontline, Capstar can be used on puppies and kittens down to four weeks of age and as small as two pounds. It appears to have an enormous margin of safety. The same dosage can be used on tiny puppies down to 2 pounds or dogs up to 25 pounds, and a second dosage is used for dogs from 26 all the way up to 125 pounds. That is from a five to 12 fold variation in the dosage.

It is safe, and it is effective. Fully 90% of the fleas will be dead within a couple of hours.

CAPSTAR is an oral tablet. A single dose should kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day. Be sure to buy enough to be able to treat several different days as you get your fleas under control.

To give CAPSTAR Tablets, place the pill directly in the back of your pet’s tongue or hide it in his food. If you hide the pill in food, watch closely to make sure your pet swallows the pill. If you are not sure that your pet took the pill, it is actually safe to give a second pill.

You have to treat all of the pets in the household. Fleas can reproduce on untreated pets and allow infestations to go on. If you have treated the house and yard with an Insect Growth Regulator, the development of new fleas will be over with in less than two weeks.

Capstar for dogs is used to control adult fleas on the dogs and cats. The fleas on your pet are in the adult stage. An adult female flea, living on a pet, can lay up to 2,000 eggs in her lifetime. With CAPSTAR, you can kill the adult fleas stopping them from having time to reproduce.

Outsourcing Bookkeeping and F&A

As a way to save money and cut costs, many companies are now outsourcing some of the more mundane tasks. Corporations and small businesses alike are moving some of their functions overseas and are seeing huge savings in their bottom line. Bookeeping and F&A are just two of the areas where companies can outsource. There are many countries around the world with qualified and experienced workers but many of the outsourcing companies are located in India. Workers there are intelligent and well-trained and they speak English which is important for them to be able to communicate with American companies.

The most important way that bookkeeping outsourcing can help you is, of course, with saving money. There are more than just a few ways that it can help you save money. Although it does cost more to pay for bookkeeping outsourcing up front, what you do not see is how much it is really saving you. The other way that it helps you us by freeing up more space in your office. Now that is something that everyone wants to do. You can see why bookkeeping outsourcing could be helpful. There is nothing quite like being able to send your stuff overseas to have it done, and a lot of companies are starting to take notice of this.

The way that f&a outsourcing is increasing today, it is easy to see how it could become very big in the very near feature. It is much easier for these big time businesses to pass some of these functions off to the F&A outsourcing groups than it is for them to do it in house. These F&A outsourcing groups are becoming more willing to take on bigger and bigger responsibilities. Of course, it’s not just the big time businesses that are doing it anymore. The smaller businesses are doing it as well. Over time we are going to see more and more smaller businesses starting to do this, as well as more and more start up businesses. With such an increase like this, only time will tell where F&A outsourcing will land and if it will ever stop.
